Project Title: Indigenous trimmer for SNLS Machine

Background: Operators working on the sewing floor use hand trimmers or scissors for the purpose of thread trimming. The operator has to reach out for cutting device, make the cut and then place it back to its initial position which is time consuming. The other option being the use of UBT which is very costly. Keeping these things into consideration the project aims at designing a machine which has integrated trimmer.
Objective:To integrate a low cost thread trimming device so as to eliminate the use of pair of scissors and thus reduce the machine time.
Methodology:The project is aimed to be done in different phases. The first phase being the planning, research and study of previous works. The second phase being the implementation of the study then remove the pitfalls. Phase three constitutes of developing a working model and finally concluding the project.
Findings: Total time saved for sewing a run stitch on a collar using the over bed trimmer is 3.0 seconds. Total Cost of the device is Rs. 2300/-.
