IAN M. MARLOW, COP President and Chief Executive Officer – GMS
As President and CEO of Newmark Knight Frank Global Management Services (GMS), Ian Marlow’s oversight includes a global operation spanning 54 countries and 49 of the United States. His team is currently responsible for over 130 million square feet of prime commercial, retail and industrial space around the world and over 40 million square feet in Manhattan, New York, which encompasses services ranging from building management, construction and maintenance, to janitorial, mechanical and landscaping services.
Mr. Marlow holds a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
PAT GAROFALO Senior Vice President – GMS
Pat Garofalo is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Newmark Knight Frank Global Management Services’ domestic and EMEA portfolio. He has helped the firm’s facility management portfolio grow to over 130 million square feet, encompassing properties in 49 states in the U.S. and 54 countries internationally.
Mr. Garofalo has over 20 years experience in real estate management and development.
BRIAN S. WATERMAN Executive Vice President and Principal
Brian S. Waterman joined Newmark Knight Frank in 1985 at the firm’s Manhattan headquarters and became a principal in 2000. He has negotiated leasing transactions in excess of one billion dollars, developing expertise in tenant and landlord representation. Mr. Waterman has assisted Mr. Kuhn in building the due diligence and asset management groups. Among the numerous high-profile building owners he has represented are W&M Properties, Lighthouse Real Estate Ventures Inc., Amtrust, Inc., Canadian Imperial Bank Corporation, Emmes & Company, Apollo Partners, Sterling Equities, Stellar Management, Edward J. Minskoff, The Moinian Group, North Star Capital Partners, Vornado Realty Trust and Taconic Investment Partners.
Mr. Waterman holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Management and Marketing from C.W. Post College.
FRED D. SHAPIRO Executive Managing Director
Fred D. Shapiro joined Newmark Knight Frank in 1995. As an executive managing director, he is responsible for financial reporting and accounting for the firm’s institutional properties. Prior to joining Newmark Knight Frank, Mr. Shapiro served in the audit department of Arthur Andersen for 12 years and worked at Paramount Group, Inc. as vice president - chief accounting officer. At Paramount, he also developed a construction project tracking system, which was used to control over $100 million of expenditures for a portfolio in excess of 14 million square feet. Most recently, Mr. Shapiro was employed by Apollo Real Estate Investment Fund, L.P., where he was responsible for the development of their financial and tax reporting systems.
Mr. Shapiro received an M.B.A. in Finance from Bernard Baruch College. He graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
