Rheingau Music Festival 2011
Facts and figures
The 24th Rheingau Music Festival is being held from 25 June to 27 August 2011. The keynote themes this year are: “Liszt: 200th anniversary of his birth”, “Mahler: 100th anniversary of his death”, “Homesickness”, “Four on a string” and “Vocal ma- ximal”, a composer’s portrait of Hans Zender.
153 concerts will be held at 43 venues in the Rheingau and neighbouring regions. The principal venues are Eberbach Monastery, Johannisberg Palace and the Wies- baden Assembly Rooms. Numerous castles, churches and wineries are included as venues with a specifically regional character, like the lake stage in Vollrads Palace grounds, and Steinberg Castle downhill from Eberbach Monastery, or the excursion ship MS RheinEnergie. We shall be returning to the Phoenix Hall in Mainz and to St. Christopher’s Church in Wiesbaden-Schierstein. And we shall be premiering some new venues in the shape of St. Stephen’s Church in Mainz and the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Hallgarten.
124,000 tickets are available for the 153 concerts. Financing of the Rheingau Mu- sic Festival is assured by long-term sponsorship agreements, concert and product sponsoring, the contributions and donations from our patrons, plus a subsidy of € 25,000 from the state government.
