MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES IN AGING Aging presents many challenges, some are normal and others involve disease processes. How does a person adapt and cope with the stresses of physiological, psychological, and social changes? Specific mental health issues facing aging individuals and their caregivers will be the focus of this workshop (i.e. anxiety and depression) how to keep mentally fit and where to get help for mental health problems.

CARING FOR SOMEONE WITH DEMENTIA Today, 25% of Quebecers have someone with dementia within their family. This workshop provides an overview of the different types of dementia and the complexities of dementia care throughout the different stages of the disease processes.

UNDERSTANDING AND RESPONDING TO DIFFICULT BEHAVIOURS This workshop identifies behaviors that can be puzzling or challenging for caregivers when caring for someone with dementia (wandering, aggression, or paranoia, for example), analyzes possible underlying causes, and suggests effective coping strategies. All caregivers welcome, whether professionals or family members.

EVENT PLANNING ESSENTIALS – LEVEL 1 Learn the essentials of thorough event planning. In this course, you will acquire the basic knowledge of all aspects of researching, designing, planning, coordinating and evaluating events. EVENT PLANNING ESSENTIALS – LEVEL 2 Prerequisite: Event Planning Essentials – Level 1 In the first course, you learned the essentials to event planning. Now utilize these competencies to manage the multitude of details involved in event planning; to recognize and plan for possible risks; and to produce an event evaluation plan. This case work- based course focuses on the event industry, and the fundamental components of planning and executing events. You will explore the planning, producing and management of specific types of events from family social functions to some corporate.
