The 5th Annual Barn Party is taking place on October 18, 2008 from sundown until 10pm. This evening of fun-filled events, such as the unforgettable McCormick hayrides (complete with the breath-taking magic of laser finger lights), the daring of cold-water night swimming, the relaxation of hot-tub soaking, the fellowship of the open-pit campfire, and the home-grown music extravaganza of Steve Rose, Kimberly and Buddy Conley, is guaranteed to provide an A+ experience for the whole family.

With all this activity, you are sure to have a very healthy appetite. The menu will be topped by Gary’s Famous Chili, succulent veggie-dogs, the endless choices of the baked potato bar, and the Adventist specialty…the ever-popular Haystack. But wait…there’s more! Delicious baked Pies!! Yes, the seasonal favorites of apple and pumpkin, along with the fluffy goodness of whipped cream will tantalize your sweet tooth and round out a perfect culinary experience.

So many reasons to come, so few excuses to keep you at home in the same old routine. The entire barn party experience is only $3 for singles, $5 for couples and $8 for the entire family…and those little buckaroos (2 years and under) can slide on in for free! This evening filled with activities, food, and entertainment with all your Clovis friends is clearly a steal! So, break out your boots, chaps, belt-buckle and hat, and come on out to see for yourself why the 5th Annual Barn Party is sure to be the best one yet!

Ten Days of Prayer

By Randy Prewitt

On September 14 we embarked on ten days of prayer of intercession for those we hope to reach in our upcoming evangelistic meetings, “Christ or Antichrist.” Each evening approximately 20-30 people have come to pray together. We have a prayer list of 120-150 names plus all the individuals that have received the invitation via the mail and door-to-door distribution. We lift these individuals up to Lord each night. What a blessing it has been to pray together for these souls. FOCUS ON SABBATH SCHOOL Kindergarten We have come to realize that our only effective means of discovering the souls that the Lord has prepared for the harvest is through intercessory prayer. And we are praying specifically for those that are ripe for the harvest. “I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours… I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word.” John 17:9, 20 RSV K i n d e r g a r t e n s e r v e s c h i l d r e n f r o m 4 t o a b o u t 6 y e a r s o f a g e . T h e r e a r e about 16 students each week. We understand that it is only by intercessory prayer that we can build the unity that Christ talks about in John 17:21, “that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in me, and I in You, that the world may believe that You sent Me.” We need to come together in one accord as a church and pray for the harvest of souls. This is what the disciples were doing when the Spirit was poured out on them. What a blessing they received simply because they chose to gather together and pray.

Editor’s Note: While our 10-day Season of Prayer has come to a close, there’s still a wonderful, and ongoing, opportunity to come together in intercessory prayer. Join with others at the home of Dale and Yolanda Leamon, the home of Gordon and Luella Bullock, or in the Church Sanctuary (led by Mark and Heather Akins) each Friday evening at 7:30 for prayer and fellowship. And if you would like to host a gathering in your home, training is available. Contact the office for information.

Heather says, “This quarter’s focus has been the life of Jesus. Each week we have a mission story, as well as our lesson in felts and a cra t for kids to do that’s on the same lesson with the same theme. We’re just really excited to be able to teach the kids about Jesus and to prepare them for His soon coming!”

Kindergarten meets rom 10-11am each Sabbath. All are welcome.
