Mr. Pihakis made a motion, seconded by Ms. Link that the Board hire legal support for negotiation of the SEIU contract. Discussion then centered around whether the negotiation team has the authority to put someone in place as soon as possible. The negotiation committee along with the personnel committee could be involved in the selection of the attorney. It was then decided to advertise and hold a special meeting on January 24, 2005 to hire the legal support.

Legal Support for Investigation Mr. Buchleitner read the following statement: As a result of allegations made against Dr. Mark Hoover by a district employee, Dr. Hoover has been placed on administrative leave by the district while a personnel investigation into the allegation is conducted. To protect the integrity of the investigation and those involved no further details may be discussed. Mr. Pintar made a motion, seconded by Mr. Arista that the Board hire Michael Witherel, an attorney, to conduct the personnel investigation and also to retain a computer forensic firm to work with Mr. Witherel.

The motion carried unanimously.

Legal Support for SEIU Contract Mr. Pintar asked to return to the issue regarding legal support for the SEIU contract. He questioned the solicitor as to whether the Board could vote tonight to retain an attorney. This would save the cost of additional advertising. Mr. DiSalle stated that this would be appropriate. The motion was reread and voted on at this point. Mr. Pihakis made a motion, seconded by Ms. Link that the Board hire legal support for negotiation of the SEIU contract.

Student Trips

The motion carried unanimously.

Mr. Bowman made a motion, seconded by Mr. Pintar that the Board approve the following trips:

    approve the attendance/competition of the varsity cheerleaders at the AmeriCheer International High School Cheerleading Championships to be held at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida on March 16-20,

    • 2005.

      The cheerleaders placed first in their competitive division at the Regional Cheerleading Competition at Springdale High School in November.

  • 2.

    retroactively approve the boys basketball trip to the Meadville Christmas Tournament on December 28 and 29, 2004.

The motion carried unanimously.

Facility Permits

Ms. Link made a motion, seconded by Mr. Arista that the Board approve the facility permit for Joyce Ellis Dancers on May 19-21, 2005, and the facility permit for
