A.10.Youth Entrepreneurship: The best approach to HIV/AIDS prevention

Objectives and scope:  The objective of the study was to find out the genuine reasons why a lot of young people are involved in risky behaviors that can harm or interfere with there future as a result contracting the HIV/AIDS virus, some of these behaviors are, premarital sex commercial sex working and casual sex. The core objective was to find out how young people can practically contribute to the development of this country and avoid risky behaviors. The study was conducted in several districts in which Nation Young Voices Malawi has its partners these district are Blantyre, Zomba, Mphalombe, Chikwawa, Dedza, Lilongwe and Mzuzu.

In all these places there was equal participation of girls and boys in terms of the deliberations. In each district the participation was variant.

Methodology: In order to come out with these reflections a number of activities, group discussion, community mobilization campaigns and participatory programmes where conducted in different sectors like Schools, youth church meetings, youth gathering fun days, parent teachers meetings, youth work shops.The mode of interaction were, Symbolic, thus the use of visual aids, Scale rating (balancing situations) using the rule of thumb, Face to face talks with youth, parents and teachers, Simple questionnaires and Suggestion boxes in different youth groupings.

Results:  According to the statistics it shows that not less than 70% of the young people are unemployed as a result a lot of the youth are just staying idol hence commuting themselves to risky behaviors, in sorting out the problem of unemployment

Taking closer looks these youth who are idol not that all of them are un educated, according to the findings it shows that about 21% attended tertiary education they are just staying, 38% they reached O level (M.C.S.E) and 51% of them range from those who reached junior certificate and below. So this is the situation and the level of venerability among the youth of Malawi. As a result the a lot of youth have involved themselves in risk behaviors such as  homosexuality,
