Pre-K Summer School

Program offered to help children entering Kindergarten get a jump start to next year by offering a glimpse of the world of kindergarten. Calendar time, letter and number awareness, songs and centers are just a few of the daily activities your child will do during summer school.

“Suess on the Loose” (K-2)

Dr. Seuss characters have gotten loose! They’re stirring up fun, all around the classroom! As we chase them all around, we will explore a variety of books, from Horton Hears a Who to Cat in the Hat to Green Eggs and Ham. Along the way, we’ll look into rhyming patterns, play fun games, create cool crafts and much, much more. So…grab your running shoes and help us catch the crazy characters. Help us catch them, if you can!!!!!!!!

Paper Crafting 101 (K-2 & 3-6)

Journey around the world through e-field trips; explore the White House, watch Old Faithful erupt, take a hike through the Grand Canyon National Park or see what the bears are up to at Yosemite National Park. Join us and see where computers and technology can take you!!

Be A Book Cook! The Art of Baking and Cooking! (1-3 & 4-6)

½ cup of fun, 1 cup of imagination and a tablespoon of surprises….That is what you will encounter at Be a Book Cook . Come prepared each day to use your imagination as we bake and cook up treats for you, your family and friends to eat! Be amazed as you make cookies, cakes, pizza, breakfast items, ice cream and more! Each treat we make will be connected to a children‘s literature book. At the end of summer school you will have your own Be a Book Cook cookbook to take home! If you like to bake, cook, have fun and use your imagination this class is for you.

Where the Action Is! (K-6)

How Science and Math Can Be Friends (1-2 & 3-4)

This is a great class for kids with a lot of energy. Everyday they will play games and participate in cool activities with both indoor and outdoor sports. You’ll have a blast.

Writer’s Workshop (K-2 & 3-6)

Are you interested in becoming a better writer? Do you enjoy making your own books? Do you enjoy telling great stories and putting them on paper? Then writer’s workshop is for you! During our summer session, students will learn how to write using the writing process of brainstorming, prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, sharing and publishing their writing. Students will write from their own experiences or using literature that will spark great ideas! Students will be a part of a community of writers where students not only share ideas but help one another. Teachers will use rich literature that follows the same experiences and genres that the student will be writing. Students will collect their work in a writer’s notebook that they will get to design and make individual and unique to inspire ideas. Each week students will publish and share their writing through celebrations. Students will choose and plan their writer celebrations. Come celebrate a writerly community during writer’s workshop!

As we perform Science experiments related to water pressure, air, weather, and gravity, we will also work Math problems into each lesson and study how things change when we add more of something or adjust something. Students will apply many principles with “hands- on” projects that also encourage recycling. Many of the experiments will use daily things that are found around the house to keep the cost down.

Math Explorers (1-2)

Put on your safari hat and come explore math with us! We will use literature, manipulatives, music, and student created art work to explore math concepts. Addition, subtraction, geometry, patterning, multiplication, division, problem solving, telling time, money, and fractions are all concepts we will explore in interesting new ways.
