Pre-K thru 6th

Literature Alive!! Cinderella (1-6)

Come Learn On the Titanic (3-6)

Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo! This summer, the Literature Alive class will be studying and performing Disney’s Cinderella! In this magical story, the characters include the wicked stepsisters and stepmother, the fairy godmother, the Prince, and of course Cinderella and all her mice friends!

We will include activities such as studying the literature of Disney’s Cinderella, building sets, learning and memorizing speaking parts, singing the musical score, learning stage choreography, and performing the production in front of live audiences. This class will be held in the High School in the Performing Arts Center, as well as our performance, which will be Thursday, June 24th at 7:00 p.m.

During the first day of class we will have auditions for the various parts. Remember if you take this class you will not take any other class since we need all the time possible to be ready for the performance. Also, note that every student will be responsible for his/her own costume. Please get your application in early because space is limited.

Cooking Around the World (2-6)

Explore different countries of the world and experience their varied foods. This will be a world wide adventure and you will experience travel from the classroom. Come and enjoy learning cooking skills and math skills. It will be a culinary delight. This will include creating an international cookbook, trips to a grocery store, making budgets and keeping them, and performing a cooking show.

Kidville (3-6)

Have you ever wanted to be in charge? Have you ever wondered what it is like to be an adult? Does running your own business sound like fun? If so, join us this summer and help create your own town! Kidville will be a town created for kids, by kids. Students will learn how businesses are run. They will create a town and participate in real world simulations. Attendance is very important the last week of summer school.

Would you like to learn about the “unsinkable” ship that was lost during its maiden voyage? Then this is the class for you! Come aboard and learn about the fascinating Titanic. In this class you will explore facts and fictions about this mysterious luxury liner. You will portray an actual passenger, participate in science experiments and create project using awesome books and the SMART board. I hope to see you on deck!

Reading Adventures (5)

We will read the books Shiloh and Soldier’s Heart. Students will participate in a variety of fun activities, including cooking, that go along with the books. Students will also strengthen their communication skills through the use of challenging games

Reading Adventures (6)

We will read the books Dear Mr. Henshaw and Bunnicula. Students will participate in a variety of fun activities, including cooking and paper Mache that go along with the books. Students will also strengthen their communication skills through the use of challenging games.

“Summer Beat 6” Show Choir (6th grade only)

This class is an introduction to the show choir world. The student will learn basic choreography skills, learn popular music, work on facial expression to convey the music and have opportunities for solo performances. The student will have performance opportunities during the 4 week period. A field trip may be taken during the summer school time. The student will also have the opportunity to observe, by DVD, other national and regional show choirs. Movies pertaining to music and performance will be viewed during this class. This is a 4 hour class no need to enroll in another course.

The Summer School Star (3-6)

Come be a part of a student led Summer School Newspaper. Be the first to get the scoop on what is going on in and out of summer school. In the newspaper you will write articles, do interviews, take pictures, proofread and publish your writing into a weekly Summer School newspaper. So come and write all about it!!!!!

Class availability is subject to change due to enrollment.
