SUP. ANTONOVICH: THE REPORT INDICATES THAT ONE REASON FOR THE COST OF OUT OF CONTROL INDIGENT DEFENSE SPENDING BY THE COURT WAS DUE TO THE PUBLIC DEFENDER BEING UNAVAILABLE, YET THE AUDIT INDICATES THAT EVEN THOUGH THE PUBLIC DEFENDER WENT FROM BEING UNAVAILABLE IN 9,673 CASES IN 2008/2009, TO ZERO IN 2009/2010, THE COST DECREASED BY ONLY 2 PERCENT. IT APPEARS THAT THE INCREASE IN EXTRA WITNESS COSTS AND OTHER FACTORS
