CUBIE A. HUFFMAN, BORN JANUARY 2, 1934 IN DALLAS, TEXAS AND PASSED AWAY ON JUNE 2ND, 2010 AT THE AGE OF 76. HE RELOCATED TO LOS ANGELES IN 1938 AND GRADUATED FROM MANUAL ARTS HIGH SCHOOL AND ARBOR COLLEGE. HE WORKED FOR THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE FOR SOME TIME AND SERVED THE COUNTY THROUGH HIS WORK WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION. HE WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE FOUR SEASONS WEST SKI CLUB. HE WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR STARTING THE WEDNESDAY NIGHT SKATE PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH IN 1968 AT THE MONA, ROOSEVELT AND SPORTSMAN PARKS. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS SONS, TODD AND TROY. OFFICER PHILIP DENNIS ORTIZ, BORN JUNE 27TH, 1961 IN LOS ANGELES, AND PASSED AWAY ON JUNE 22ND, 2010, AT THE AGE OF 48, AFTER BEING STRUCK BY A CAR IN THE LINE OF DUTY ON JUNE 9 OF 2010. HE GRADUATED FROM THE SANTA MONICA HIGH SCHOOL IN 1979 AND WORKED FOR A SHORT PERIOD AT SAFEWAY UNTIL HE JOINED THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL IN 1982, WHERE HE SERVED FAITHFULLY FOR SOME 28 YEARS. HE RECEIVED MOTORCYCLE TRAINING AFTER HIS FIRST YEAR WITH THE DEPARTMENT AND SPENT 20 YEARS IN SERVICE IN THE WEST LOS ANGELES AREA, ENJOYED PLAYING GOLF, GOING TO THE GYM, RUNNING, SMOKING CIGARS AND RIDING ONE OF HIS THREE HARLEY-DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLES. HE WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR HIS DEVOTION AS A HUSBAND, HIS LOVE FOR HIS PARENTS AND HIS FAITHFULNESS AS A FRIEND. HE LEAVES TO CHERISH HIS MEMORY HIS WIFE, JESSICA, HIS PARENTS IRENE AND CLAUSE, HIS SISTER, ANA, AND A HOST OF RELATIVES, FRIENDS AND GRIEVING CO-WORKERS. I WOULD REQUEST
