The Three Stone Ages
White Board Chart and Manipulatives for Student Practice
Draw the outline of the table for this chart on the White Board. Create cards on stock paper for the words used in the table, making them large enough for students to see from the back of the room. (Type the words in a large font, such as 72-92, cut out the words and glue them onto pieces of file folders, cut to size. To get the most mileage out of them, laminate the cards.) Also find pictures or use the ones in the table, making them as large as the cards for the words.
Affix the cards to the table drawn on the white board, one at a time, across the rows, one at a time. Discuss the words or pictures as each is put in its place on the table. Have students re-create the table (chart) on notebook paper for future reference (you could allow them to use notes on their tests, which helps them to be more organized, and motivates them to take notes!).
When all cards have been affixed to the chart (table) on the white board, take the cards OFF the chart and distribute the cards to various students around the room. Have them come up, one at a time, and affix the card to the chart in its proper place. Allow students to re-create the chart with the cards as a study aid during study times.
