Robin engaged with Vic Roads re High St south of Westgarth, where this stretch of road had been narrowed by a new tram lane and had made it very narrow for cyclists. The result was that Vic Roads has now changed the lane markings and made the road safer for cyclists!

5.2 Ride Reports and Upcoming Rides
Around the Bay (ATB) training rides continue on Saturday (8am) and Sundays (9am) starts.
Margaret advised that there is still space available for ATB accommodation at Sorrento, but you will need to be quick to get a vacancy now.
There will be a meeting of those doing ATB at Loui and Frankos Pizza at 6.30pm Thursday September 21. This will be immediately prior to the General meeting at 7.30pm.

DBUG received a $2000 community grant from Darebin Council for 2006-07
The Bike Show is on in October - Local BUGs are sharing a table at the show. People inquiring will be able to receive information on the BUG in their local area. Norm Appleby will represent DBUG at the show. Other members who wish to get involved, please ring Louise on 9484 3860
The DBUG AGM will be held on 19 October 2006 where committee members will be voted on. Any DBUG members interested in play a role on the committee are welcome to attend the September 7 Com meeting.
As an offshoot of DBUG, the Community Kitchen, offering an opportunity to cook affordable and notorious food together, met for the first time on Saturday 12 August. CK will meet the second Saturday of each month. Next meeting is 9 September and will combine a trip to the Slow Food Festival at the Abbotsford Convent. Kate Myers, Darebin Council's sustainable transport coordinator ahs invited DBUG to participate in Sustainable Transport week and run a ride for the community on 7 October. Event to be discussed at the next ride leaders meeting.
