Youth/Adult Fishbowl

ERIC: I’m traveling right now and don’t have access to the description of this workshop from two previous annual meetings, but it’s the same as before. If you want to offer it again, I’ll get the appropriate wording to you. Thanks.

A Vital Force for Spirituality and Social Justice

How can a UU congregation live at the intersection of social justice and spiritual development?  Unity Church-Unitarian in St. Paul launched a thoughtful ministry team structure several years ago that addresses this and other outreach questions.  Through a process of action and reflection, these teams provide meaningful and effective opportunities for congregants to participate in community service, education and advocacy.  Join Unity Community Outreach team leaders and members as they share their spiritual development and outreach experiences in these small ministry communities.

Labyrinth Walking Meditation

There is a tradition at the conferences that a labyrinth is offered as a walking meditation for people. If you wish to have a labyrinth at the conference, the First Universalist of Minneapolis Labyrinth Team is willing to host the event.  Usually, the labyrinth is presented all day on Saturday.

There are three sizes of labyrinths available:  36 feet, 28 feet, and 18 feet.

Ann Hobbs is the Labyrinth Team Chair and is the best person to contact:  earth.mom@comcast.net or 763-546-3337.

If you would like to plan for this experience, we can send you a descriptive flyer with an image of the labyrinth.

Something About Compensation

Dear Planning Group: I am the compensation consultant for the northern half of PSD. I have done workshops on compensation before at the annual conference, and they have been well received. There are things to talk about: new guidelines came out in 2003, effective 1/2004, and the UUA is trying to move congregations from a total cost of ministry approach to salary and benefits. I’m not, however, going to try and make this fit into the theme. If you want me to present, we can try and come up with a catchy title and description, but decide first if you want the topic presented. Thanks. – Karen Wille
