The Minnesota Supervisor’s Fall North Shore Continuing Education Event
This long standing event was held Sept. 21-23, once again at the Anderson 'compound' on the North Shore of Lake Superior. The weather and collegiality made it a spectacular “Superior” time. Tim Thorstenson and Scott McRae led a presentation and dialogue on "Using Concepts of Coaching in Supervision." They have gone through coaching training with other ELCA pastors who would coach other pastors in being effective in ministry. Al Nohre, a former ACPE Supervisor, and Mark Anderson who provided the Coaching training were also present to share in the discus- sion. They all shared applications to supervision that enable students to tune into their hopes and aspirations in min- istry and set realistic goals to fulfill them. Realistic goals for ministry in a demanding environment of parish or health care provide clarity in busy and complex lives.
Guests at the retreat besides Al Nohre included Willy Poster, a past President of CPE in Germany, Denny Everson, Seminary representative from Luther Theological Seminary in the Twin Cities, and Kirsti Mosvold, President of the Norwegian CPE organization.
