Site Geotechnical Engineer, Philex Open Cut Gold Mine, Mindanao, Phillipines - 20 m high leach pad (rock/earth fill embankment) construction supervision (including surface and sub-surface drainage installation), sedimentation pond design and construction, waste dump subsoil drainage installation supervision, site drainage and sediment control structure maintenance during wet season (2 months,1997).
Geotechnical Engineer, Sydney Airport Tunnel - drilling rig supervision for site Investigation along tunnel route (1 month, 1995). Borehole logging, In-situ soil strength and rock mass packer testing.
Project Engineer, Lithgow TAFE - Underground Mine Workings Stability Assessment for Mine Subsidence Board (4 months, 1995). Supervised the drilling of vertical and angled boreholes to allow in-seam video inspection of the workings, near surface clay reactivity assessment.
Site Geotechnical Engineer, Western Suburbs Leagues Club Old Workings Remediation, (4 months,1998) - Supervision of site investigation to locate and subsequently stabilise abandoned underground workings using concrete “cone” and bulk grout filling techniques prior to construction of 3 storey motel building.
Note: This project received an award from the Institution of Engineers (Australia) in 1998.
Quest Apartments, Newcastle (1 month, 1998) - Investigation and stability assessment of flooded AA Colliery workings at 80 m depth beneath a proposed 10 storey building site. The work included rotary-percussion drilling and video inspections.
Nautilus Apartments, Newcastle (3 weeks, 1998) - Investigation and stability assessment of flooded AA Colliery workings at 22 m depth beneath a proposed 3 storey building site.
Green Point, Belmont (1 month, 1999) - Investigation and stability assessment of Belmont Colliery workings at 10 to 30 m depth beneath a proposed residential subdivision. The work included rotary-percussion drilling, video inspections and geophysical techniques (down-the hole seismic and resistivity surveys).
Green Point, Belmont (2 months,1999) - Remediation of 2 to 4 m deep old colliery spoil piles and pot-hole affected areas by removal and re-compaction to 95% Standard Compaction to AS3798 Earthworks Guidelines for a residential subdivision. Work required investigation of uncontrolled fill, stripping inspections and fill placement and testing documentation for as-constructed reporting and council sign-off.
Greater Building Society, Newcastle (1 month, 2000) - Investigation and stability assessment of flooded AA Colliery workings at 36 m depth beneath a proposed 8 storey building site. The work included cored borehole drilling and video inspections.
Numerous site classifications, pavement design and slope stability assessment reports for residential sub-divisions in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Wyong, Gosford, Cessnock, Singleton and Great Lakes Council Shires.
Numerous geotechnical assessment reports for medium sized (i.e. up to 3 storeys) building projects which included high level and pile supported footing system design, retaining and basement wall design parameters and pavement thickness design to council sub-division codes.
