Stockist profile - A. P. Sales & Services, Visakhapatnam

M/s. A. P. Sales & Services has been an L&T authorised stockist for Audco valves since 1984.

The founder, Mr. G. C. Patni, was born in Ajmer, Rajasthan on August 1, 1953. After graduation and a short stint with the State Bank, Mr. Patni moved to Kolhapur, Maharashtra in 1975 and started dealing in powerlooms. In the early '80s there was a lot of industrial activity in Visakhapatnam and Mr. Patni foreseeing a big demand for quality valves applied to be an L&T stockist.

In the first year A. P. Sales chalked up a sales of Rs. 1.5 lakhs dealing only in Audco products. Even today Mr. Patni is an exclusive Audco stockist and he considers this his greatest strength.

A. P. Sales has a dedicated and well- trained marketing team who cover the coastal belt from Nellore to Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. All the day-to-day operations of this efficient team are computerised.

A. P. Sales, through very hard work, has built a reputation for prompt supplies and reliable after-sales support. Today they count among their customers, industrial giants like - Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, HPCL's Refinery, LPG Plant & Terminal, Coromandel Fertilisers, NTPC, Southern Railways, etc.

This year their turnover is expected to cross the magic figure of Rs. 100 lakhs.

Mr. Patni is very proactive and has a keen business sense. He was one of the first valve suppliers to open a branch in Nellore to tap the huge potential projected for aqua-culture. And today, realising that the Internet is the future, Mr. Patni is fast drawing up plans to go on-line.

A. P. Sales is all set to make the most of the spurt in industrial investment in AP and grow at a very fast pace. Mr.

Patni hopes to double his current turnover in the next five years.

Mr. Patni married Shashi on April 30, 1976. The Patnis have three children - Hitesh, an engineering student, Surabhi, in junior college and Anuj, studying in class IX. Mr. Patni loves to spend his free time with his family - playing indoor games and watching family-oriented serials on TV.

Mr. Patni believes that stockists should strive to enhance the corporate image of L&T through all their actions and responses.
