Colorado celebrates its first Powerball jackpot win.
The SEEP Financial Group claimed Colorado’s $20 million Powerball jackpot on October 23 on behalf of two local families. The two families went in together on a ticket for the October 10 drawing, picked their own numbers, and came out winners. The winning numbers for the October 10 drawing were: 12, 16, 31, 33, 54 and the Powerball was 5. The numbers were a combination of special dates and lucky numbers.
The winners are immigrants from Germany, but are originally from Poland. They have been in the Denver Metro area since 2002.

The winners elected to take the Annuity Option, worth $20 million over the next 29 years. Their first check was for $365,602. The winners said they plan to “stay cool,” travel some, maybe buy a house some day. But, mostly they want to absorb their incredible good fortune and make smart decisions.
The Safeway at 8543 Church Ranch Blvd. in Westminster sold the winning ticket. The store earned a $50,000 selling bonus, that Safeway will donate to a charity or non-profit in the Westminster area.
Colorado has been a member of Powerball since 2001, but this was Colorado’s first Powerball jackpot win. This ranks as the third largest jackpot given away in Colorado, behind Loo jackpots of $27 million in 1992 and $21 million in 2000.
