September’s Business Meeting:
By Jason Rothgeb
September’s meeting saw an attendance of 32 members with one guest. Business included an announcement that elections are two months away in November with nominations coming up at next month’s meeting. It was also announced that our current Newsletter Editor will step down at the end of his current term and if the club wishes to see the Newsletter continue in its current format someone will need to step forward and make a commitment in the near future.
Other announcements included the dates of some upcoming Shows, including HMGS on Nov. 14-16th and the Long Island Replica Society’s show on Sat. Nov. 22nd.
The items covered were fairly brief to allow adequate time for the auction of the model collection of the Late John Rucks. The collection was a testament to John’s decades long devotion to the modeling hobby and covered three tables at the front of the room. There were a number of rare and interesting pieces including aircraft in one thirty-second scale, a somewhat unusual aircraft scale that John preferred.
The total raised from the auction was $705.00 for John’s widow. Those who coordinated and assisted with this auction, along with those who bid generously deserve our thanks.
