Polytech has received a Superstars in Education Award six times from the state Chamber of Commerce. The school, celebrating its 20th year, stresses academics as well as technical trades. Course work supports 20-plus career paths, and there’s a state-of-the-art animal science laboratory. Ninth-grade algebra students and teachers use iPads. Students can take English for three UD credits. Concord has an award-winning marching band and strong music program. It’s also a top school for football and science. More than 1,000 students take Spanish, which has opened the doors to more AP Spanish classes. MP students have an above-average graduation rate in the International Baccalaureate program.

Career technology courses include a medical technology program with rotations at Nanticoke Hospital. The largest school in its district, Delcastle is favored for construction and mechanical trades. In March, the Grammy Foundation selected Newark High as one of its 12 Signature Schools.

The first senior class will graduate in 2011. The school’s language program includes Chinese and Japanese.
