  • Rename ALL 3 components of “lkA…” to “county_roads.*” (where * = .shp, shx, .dbf)

  • Rename ALL 3 components of “cty00…” to “county_boundary.*” (where * = .shp, shx, .dbf)

When finished, your county_LL folder should look like the folder below left:

  • Return to your ArcMap empty map, use File > Add Data, scroll to your county_LL folder, add the county_roads and county_ boundary shapefiles; if you get a coordinate system warning (above right) press OK to all. Your map appears:

Note that units of feet are displayed in the lower RH edge of the map view (blue arrow above right), indicating the NJ State Plane Feet projection of the map view (not the TIGER lat-long).

  • In the ToC, dbl-click on the roads line symbol (below left) and select a dark grey color:

  • Use the same procedure to change the county_boundary to Hollow with a 3-pt black outline.

  • Select File > Save As; scroll to your Exr02 folder and save project as your_name_Exr02.
