Step 10a - Perform an automated geocoding operation Discussion - You have created an input table of addresses as well as an Address Locator based upon Passaic County roads projected to NJ State Plane 1983 NAD coordinates. You should now be in a position to perform a successful geocoding operation. NOTE: although you are only geocoding one address for this exercise, you can geocode hundreds or even thousands of addresses in one operation, depending upon the size of your input address table.

Procedure -

  • In your ArcMap view, turn on

county_roads_sp in the ToC; rt-click > Label features:

  • Select ArcToolbox > Geocoding Tools > Geocode Addresses (dbl-click on the latter)

  • In the Geocode Addresses window that appears (below left), use the Browse button to the right of the Input Table window (blue arrow) to scroll to your Exr02 folder (below right); select input_address_table.dbf ; press Add

  • Use the browse button to the right of the Input Address Locator window (red arrow below

left) to scroll to ArcCatalog > Address Locators > passaic_county_roads_sp; press Add
