John Borody, CEO, Addictions Foundation of Manitoba John Borody is the Chief Executive Officer for the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba. His experience ranges from overseeing health care organizations during a period of change, to facilitating the development of regional health plans. Prior to joining the AFM he was the CEO with Winnipeg Home Care and CEO to the Moose Jaw-Thunder Creek District Health Board. In addition to his executive experience, he has consulted with numerous regional health authority boards in strategic policy development. John currently serves as the Chair for the Canadian College of Health Service Executives national board and is the Treasurer for the Canadian Executive Council on Addictions.
Robyn Braha, Wellness Coordinator, E.H. Price Robyn Braha has over 10 years experience working with event programming. Currently in her position as Corporate Wellness Advisor for E.H. Price Limited, Robyn is working with the Price wellness committee to develop the “wellfromwithin”, Price’s unique fitness and lifestyle initiative, across Canada. A graduate from the University of Manitoba Commerce Program (Hons.) with a major in International Business, Robyn is also a national fitness competitor and represents Manitoba in the Canadian World Qualifiers. “Price recognizes that maintaining a healthy work life balance can be a real challenge, and with this recognition comes the responsibility to act, so we’re doing all we can to assist and encourage our employees in leading the most healthy and active lifestyles possible.”
Rhonda Bretecher, Vice President Human Resources, Loewen Windows Rhonda has worked in the areas of training and development and organizational development for the last 12 years. Since joining Loewen in 2001, she has had the opportunity to grow and develop with the organization from a role of Employee Development Manager to her current position of Vice President, Human Resources. During that period, Loewen embarked on a lean journey aimed at providing better customer service by delivering value through processes with minimal waste. Rhonda has worked extensively with leaders and employees in an effort to establish a solid vision of the future and align efforts towards achieving that vision. The journey continues, as does her passion for driving strategic change and helping people achieve their potential.
Maria Capozzi, BA, MPA, Principal, Strategic Initiatives & Board Governance, Office of the Auditor General (Manitoba) Maria has been with Manitoba’s Office of the Auditor General since 1997. She has extensive experience in conducting corporate governance reviews and assessments of Boards of Directors in various public sector entities. With a view to enhancing board governance practices in the public sector, her work includes primary research, empirical assessments, and conducting evaluations of specific public sector Boards of Directors (in conjunction with investigative audits). Maria has authored or contributed to over a dozen OAG Reports to the Manitoba Legislature, and has given numerous presentations on board governance to audiences of all sizes. Maria holds a Masters in Public Administration, and a Bachelor of Arts in French and Political Science.
Jamie Conklin Jamie Conklin is President of Cadence Human Systems Inc., a consulting company specializing in organizational development and knowledge exchange. He is the Coordinator of the Ontario Research Coalition of Research Institutes / Centres on Health & Aging (ORC), and is co-lead of the evaluation team for the Seniors Health Research Transfer Network. James also holds a Professional Adjunct appointment at Concordia University, where he teaches in the graduate program on Human Systems Intervention. Jamie is a Manitoban by birth and inclination, though he now resides in the Ottawa Valley.
Laura Devlin, Director of Social Care, Riverside Lions Laura Devlin has spent most of her work life working as a social worker in housing and dementia care. For the past 10 years, she focused primarily on implementing and managing supportive housing programs for local Lions Clubs. Building on past experiences and after completing a Masters degree in Social Work Administration, her interest in a different, more humanistic, approach to management steadily grew. Largely the result of the progressive organizations she worked within, the housing programs were able to integrate a variety of new concepts and philosophies, enabling the creation of a more adaptive workplace, contributing greatly to a healthier organization and establishing a more authentic home environment for elderly residents.
Sheryl Feller, Fellow Certified Management Consultant, Bluebear Enterprises Sheryl is a Fellow Certified Management Consultant (FCMC) who offers consulting, education, and facilitation services through her firm, Bluebear Enterprises Inc. Training, facilitation and coaching are the primary services of Sheryl's practice. Sheryl has served as Board member for wide range of organizations for more than 25 years and has provided board development services to many clients. She is currently a Board Member with the Women’s Enterprise Centre, Red River College, and Sanford Credit Union,
Michael Fernandes, StrategyMakers Consulting After spending twelve years as senior manager in a social enterprise, Mike established StrategyMakers Consulting to further serve Manitoba businesses and organizations. Mike holds an undergraduate degree in Economics and Environmental Studies and an MBA from the Asper School of Business.
