Traditional IF Amplifier Circuits: Coupled Circuit Selectivity
Changing the amount of coupling between the primary and secondary windings allows the desired amount of bandwidth to be obtained. At some particular degree of coupling, known as critical coupling, the output reaches a peak value.
In FM receivers, one or more of the IF amplifier stages is used as a limiter, to remove any amplitude variations on the FM signal before the signal is applied to the demodulator.
