WATERS OF THE UNITED STATES- The term `waters of the United States' means all waters subject to the ebb and flow of the tide, the territorial seas, and all interstate and intrastate waters and their tributaries, including lakes, rivers, streams (including intermittent streams), mudflats, sand- flats, wetlands, sloughs, prairie potholes, wet meadows, playa lakes, natural ponds, and all im- poundments of the foregoing, to the fullest extent that these waters, or activities affecting these wa- ters, are subject to the legislative power of Congress under the Constitution.'
That's right. They will have control over the pond on your property or that low spot that fills with wa- ter during wet times. Look for a whole long list of new regulations and permits to do everything from boating to killing weeds to prospecting. Could this even affect metal detecting and diving? Sooner or later they will probably get to us! Contact your representative and tell him or her to oppose HR2421 and this attack on your property rights. Here is the bill.

Ken Cochran was at the meeting after
recovering from back surgery. Laura Ritter was recovering from an allergic reaction. thanked her family and CTC friends for their support during her recent illness.
While attending the prize distribution at The Sipila's house, Matt Mechler & Mark Jenkins left early to help a woman who had lost her diamond ring at Alki Beach. It only took about 10 minutes of search- ing before Mark found the ring and returned it to a very happy owner. Awards $22.00 was in the Jug of Hope and Jim Jacobs wasn’t present to win. The Silver Dollar was won by Dale Lewis. Don Sherard was the winner of the No/No award and Matt Mechler won the AOK award. Find of the Month winners were: Kevin Konen—1922 s Silver Dollar; Martin Kuhns—14K ring; Ron Aldridge—5 cents in trade token ; Mark Jenkins—toy truck.
20 YEARS AGO JULY 1988 Our guest this month was Glen Cloyd. Don Eager provided our entertainment for the meeting with a very interesting talk about the Horlicks Malted Milk Company. Seven CTC members attended the 2nd Annual Can Am Hunt put on by the West Coast Treasure Hunters Club. Doris Sipila placed 2nd in the
Old Timers Hunt and members took part in
in the Women's.
