Trouble shooting

Issues seen after initial installation have almost always been associated with poor grounding of the LC-1 connections or a free air calibration issue.

Poor Grounding – we highly recommend the use of a 14 gauge ground wire run to a solid frame bolt or the battery. You can use multiple scotch lock crimp connectors on this wire to create a grounding bus. The most common symptom of a bad ground is the WBO2 sensor failing to warm up properly.

Improper Free Air Calibration – can easily occur if you accidently touch the black calibration wire directly to “ground”. If you are monitoring the LC-1’s through the Log Works software and you see the AFR ratios swinging wildly from 8 to 20, the free air calibration has been lost. To reset free air calibration, we recommend you let the bike sit overnight to ensure the exhaust pipes have no exhaust fumes in them, then recalibrate the sensors. If you installed the calibration reset buttons, you can just push them. Otherwise, you need to disconnect the WBO2 sensor from the LC-1, power the LC-1’s up for 10 seconds and then power down the LC-1’s. Now connect the WBO2 sensors and power up the LC-1’s again. The LC-1 should automatically recalibrate in about 45 seconds. If you installed the status LED’s, you will see the LED blinking, then it will stay on. When the LED stays on all the time, the calibration is complete and correct. The procedures described here are explained in more detail in the Innovate LC-1 Manual.
