ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS PASSED MARCH 30, 2009

ORD. NO. 142-2009 ratifying the actions of the Director of Public Service to entering into a contract with Kenmore Construction Company for the emergency repair of the State Street Bridge; authorizing payment therefore; and declaring an emergency.

ORD. NO. 143-2009 ratifying the actions of the Director of Public Service in contracting with Wingfoot Rental and Development Company for emergency repairs to the storm sewer on Brookshire Road; authorizing payment therefore; and declaring an emergency.

ORD. NO. 144-2009 authorizing the Director of Planning and Urban Development to enter into a contract or contracts for professional supplemental services associated with normal planning activities of the Planning Department; authorizing payment therefore; and declaring an emergency.

ORD. NO. 145-2009 accepting conveyance(s) by deed of estates in fee simple of property, for the WATERLOO ROAD WRIGHT SEWER JEDD project; authorizing payment therefore; and declaring an emergency.

ORD. NO. 146-2009 approving the sale of City owned land to Beverly Baddley; determining said property is not needed for public use; and declaring an emergency.

RES. NO. 147-2009 congratulating the University of Akron Men’s Basketball Team on the occasion of winning its first Mid-American Conference Tournament Championship and advancing to the NCAA Tournament; and declaring an emeregency.

RES. NO. 148-2009 approving and confirming the appointments of Donald Plusquellic, Richard Merolla, John Moore, Gerald Egan, Councilwoman Renee Greene, Councilman Bruce Kilby, and Councilman Michael Williams for the year 2009 as members of the Northeast Ohio Four County Regional Planning and Development Organization; and declaring an emergency.

ORD. NO. 149-2009 authorizing the Director of Public Service to enter into a contract, after publicly advertising for bids, for the purchase and/or lease of various equipment used in daily operations of City departments; approving specifications therefore; and declaring an emergency.

ORD. NO. 150-2009 declaring the necessity of, determining to proceed with, and levying special assessments for the improvement of certain streets in the City by constructing, reconstructing and repairing concrete sidewalks, driveway approaches, curbs and retaining walls; installing roof drain pipes; and removing trees; all in accordance with petitions submitted by property owners under the 2008 City-Wide Sidewalk Program; and declaring an emergency.

ORD. NO. 151-2009 authorizing the Mayor to file an application for a grant and enter into an agreement for funding from the FY2009 COPS Hiring and Recovery Program administered through the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, to provide funding to hire new career law enforcement officers in an effort to create and preserve jobs and to increase their community policing capacity and crime-prevention efforts; and declaring an emergency.

ORD. NO. 152-2009 authorizing the Mayor to apply for and enter into a grant agreement for FY 2009 Justice Assistance Grant funding administered through the Bureau of Justice Assistance to develop and enhance programs to improve the criminal justice system; and declaring an emergency.
