Expert Meeting on the Revision of the Copyright Part of the OAPI Agreement, Abidjan, 4 officials from each of the 14 OAPI Member States. Reviewed the copyright provisions of the OAPI Agreement and discussed their possible revision in the light of current international standards. Result: draft provisions on copyright proposed by WIPO were adopted for consideration by the OAPI Member States).
WIPO African Subregional Symposium on the Role of Copyright Offices in the Implementation of the TRIPS Agreement, Bamako. Fourteen officials from each of the OAPI Member States and 135 local participants. Promoted better understanding of the implications of the TRIPS Agreement among government departments dealing with copyright matters, including judicial and administrative enforcement measures.
Regional Training Course on Industrial Property for the Benefit of the Portuguese-speaking Countries of Africa, Rio de Janeiro. Eleven officials from the five Portuguese-speaking countries of Africa(Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique and Sao Tomé and Principe). Upgraded skills through a comprehensive training program and opportunities for cooperation with the Brazilian office were identified.
