Women’s Initiative Retreat for Senior Associates
In September 2005, the Women’s Initiative hosted its inaugural retreat in New York for our female associates in their third year and above. Since the retention rate for female associates in their third-fifth years drops significantly by comparison to their male counterparts, we saw the need to design a program that not only educates, but highlights the benefits and opportunities of fostering a long career at the Firm.
Female senior associates from all of our US offices attended the two-day event, which kicked off with a reception and dinner hosted by Duane Wall and attended by members of the Management Board. The retreat provided an enlightening blend of roundtable discussions, workshops and panels in which senior lawyers shared their experiences, insights and opinions about their careers and career progression at the Firm. Speakers included Karen Asner, Lisa Cottle, Virginia Gibson, Heidi Keefe, Carolyn Lamm, Maria Pum, Laura Sizemore and Ellen Jakovic.
The retreat closed with a reception for new associates where they had a chance to socialize and become acquainted with female partners and senior associates from other offices.
