Women’s Tax Network Wine Tasting
The Women’s Tax Network was launched in 2005 by Kathleen M. Pakenham and Danielle M. Smith of the Tax Litigation and Controversy Practice to create a forum where female tax professionals could share experiences and form new professional and personal relationships.
In November, the network hosted a wine tasting at the Harvard Club of New York. Wine gurus Josh Cohen (and husband of Litigation/IP Associate Stephanie L.Cohen) and Jeff Patten of Blanc & Rouge, a local wine boutique, entertained guests with descriptions and tastings of European and American wines, and explained what to look for on a wine list when dining with colleagues and clients. Bountiful themed gift baskets adorned with fine wines, accessories, a wine guide and gourmet chocolates were raffled off to two lucky winners of the more than 50 women in attendance. Based on attendees’ responses, the networking event was a success.
“Because we are a diverse group working in so many different environments, it is difficult to keep in touch. Events like this one help to keep us all connected.”
Cecile Gyles, Senior Manager, International Tax Practice, Ernst & Young
“It gave women tax professionals the opportunity to network and share insights with our peers.“
Tammy Samuel, CPA, Tax Director, Forbes, Inc.
“The wine tasting was a great way for me to catch up with old friends and make new ones. I would definitely attend the next event.”
Marni K. Rosenblatt, Director Tax Planning and International Tax Counsel, Merck & Co., Inc.
“Hats off to Danielle and Kathleen for a top-notch event. It was great to get some useful information on tasting and appreciating wine, and I did some real networking!”
