ASCE LOS ANGELES SECTIONGEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICAL GROUP
The Geotechnical Engineering Technical Group of the Los Angeles Section is pleased to offer a scholarship directed to senior and continuing graduate students planning to enroll in a graduate-level geotechnical program in Fall 2005. The scholarship is intended to recognize past achievement and career growth potential for students interested in pursuing a career in geotechnical engineering.
(a) Senior standing in an accredited Civil Engineering program in California, with plans to apply to one or more graduate programs in geotechnical engineering that would begin no later than Fall 2005, OR (b) Enrollment in a Master of Science or Doctoral-level degree program at a California university (preferably in Southern California) with a graduation date no earlier than May 2005.
U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status.
The scholarship provides a cash award of $2,000. The winner will be notified by April 8, 2005 and will be hosted at the Group’s Spring Seminar (April 27, 2005) to receive an award certificate (no transportation or lodging provided). The award check will be sent to the winner upon receipt of official verification of enrollment in a suitable geotechnical graduate program.
Applications are Due by March 25, 2005
All applicants must submit the following:
A resume including professional experience (including summer employment), university major and minor(s), expected graduation date, address/phone number/email address, and at least three references.
Lists of past and current courses, as well as an official university transcript.
Two letters of recommendation from Civil Engineering faculty members and/or licensed Geotechnical Engineers which evaluate the applicant’s recent academic performance and potential to contribute to the geotechnical engineering field.
A statement of educational and career goals (maximum length of 250 words).
