The 2 processes are separate and distinct, and should not be confused as being one and the same.  The 9-point rating factors that were just completed are not an appraisal of performance.  What they are is an appraisal of promotion potential which allow our SAF/AQ employees to be competitive for positions outside the Demo.  These factors ensure SAF/AQ employees will be equally considered for positions filled through Career Programs, Central Skills Bank, Merit Promotion, etc.  The 9-point rating factors determine an employee’s promotion potential when compared to the rest of the Air Force, and are submitted at the same time as the rest of the Air Force for the appraisal period 1 April through 31 March.
