FEI Chicago Chapter

News Briefs

New Initiatives in Academic Relations This summer work will begin on two new initiatives in Academic Relations-"FEI in the Classroom," and a mentoring program. "FEI in the Classroom" will attempt to match our members and their areas of expertise and experience to the academic classroom experience. If you are interested (or have a desire to be “a professor for a day”) please contact Ellen Landgraf (elandgr@luc.edu or 312-915-7105) for more details. The mentoring program will commence with our 2002 scholar- ship recipients. If you have an interest in mentoring or would like more information, please contact Ellen at the above number. Career Services Workshop The FEI Chicago Chapter Career Services Committee is pleased to announce an evening workshop on career planning hosted by TMP Worldwide. This event is open to all Chapter members and will be held on Tuesday, June 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the TMP offices at 444 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago. TMP will have several individuals from their retained search practice and their internet business on hand that evening. TMP owns "Monster Board," probably the largest and most well recognized job search engine in the country. Seating is limited. Please register for this event by contacting the FEI office via e-mail at feichi@aol.com and provide your name, company name, phone and e- mail address. Site Offers SAB 101 Guidance Finance officers everywhere know just how difficult it is to wrestle with revenue-recognition issues, which have tripped up a host of companies in the past few years. Now there’s a Web site that promises to help demystify the major accounting bulletin dealing with the sub- ject. Co-sponsored by FEI, the site, www.sab101.org, includes more than 60 links from dozens of resources including the SEC, professional financial and accounting organizations, solution providers (including the Big 5), analysts, media and expert columnists.
