Recycling of Comber Noil in Rotor Spinning

Use of comber noil and carding waste for making yarns of specific appli- cation is well known However Rieter R  and R  provide the opti- mum technology to achieve economical raw material use

Operating a green business is as well good for the en- vironment as good for the business bottom line be- cause conserving resources saves money

Recycling involves processing used materials into new products to prevent waste of potentially use- ful materials reduce consumption of fresh raw ma- terials reduce energy usage and reduce pollution Spinning mills can take a large step towards being more environment friendly by reducing the amount of waste in their textile business operations and achieve economy by reducing raw material costs

The open end spinning is one such process that helps in converting the waste materials that are generat- ed during spinning processes into new materials or products of high quality The rotor spinners in India use carding and comber wastes to produce coarser counts like Ne s s s and s which are pre- dominantly used in making home textiles and also apparels

Economy in raw material preparation In a ring spinning mill producing combed counts five high performance combers like Rieter E /E  generates  kg of comber noil per hour This gives the possibility to generate an income of  Mio INR   EUR per annum by selling the noil in the market at the current rate of  INR per kg However a quantum value increase is possible when mills spin yarns for specific applications by mixing the comber noil with virgin cotton Table  shows mixing details for two different counts and the econ- omy of raw material cost that can be achieved with effective mixings considering   working hours per year exchange rate  INR   EUR

For count Ne  it is possible and feasible to mix only comber noil with virgin cotton to achieve the desired yarn values For yarn count such as Ne  it is required to have some long fibers to achieve opti- mum strength in the yarn This is possible by mixing smaller amounts of card droppings in the raw mate- rial mixings Table  shows the even more economi- cal costing of such a raw material mixing for Ne 

Advantages of short rotor spinning process A Rieter rotor spinning line consists of a short open- ing line with high production cards one drawframe passage and rotor spinning machine with yarn clear- er producing ready to use yarn packages
