REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DUMAS, TEXAS SEPTEMBER 21, 2009 6:30 P.M.

BE IT REMEMBERED THAT THERE CAME AND WAS HELD A REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DUMAS, TEXAS IN THE DUMAS POLICE DEPARTMENT MUNICIPAL COURT ROOM, 124 EAST 7TH STREET OF SAID CITY:

During attending citizens and their business David Rehkopf, representing the Dumas Post of the American Legion, invited the Commission and public to attend an opening ceremony, September 22, 2009 for the arrival of the Veterans Memorial Traveling Tribute. The Dumas Post of the American Legion is sponsoring the Traveling Tribute. Mr. Rehkopf said the Veterans Memorial Traveling Tribute would be escorted into town by a group of veteran motorcycle riders. Mr. Rehkopf said the Veterans Memorial would be on display at the museum and would be accessible to view 24 hours a day. Mr. Rehkopf said the 4th District Commander and the 18th District Commander of the American Legion would speak during the opening ceremony and there would be a fly over by the Dew Line Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force, based at the Tradewind Airport, Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Rehkopf stated that a flag raising ceremony and speech is planned for each day and the closing ceremony would be September 26, 2009.

Commissioner Mahaffey asked about the following bills: Farm Plan Corp., $887.76 for the fire department. Fire Chief Paul J. Jenkins said this cost is for horse stall mats, which are three manhole covers. City of Dalhart, $4,192 for the landfill department. Public Works Director Andrew Espinoza said this cost is for tub grinder usage. City Manager Vince DiPiazza said this tub grinder is used by the City of Dumas and city of Dalhart and was a joint grant received PRPC. Upbeat Inc., $704.10 for the park department. Mr. DiPiazza said this cost us for a bike rack that will be placed at the swimming pool next year. Amarillo Globe news, $48 for the city commission. Mr. DiPiazza said this cost is for school and Lions Club advertisement. Commissioner Funk asked Police Chief Dale Alwan about the bill from Dumas Noon Lions Club for $40 and asked if he attended the Lions Club meetings. A motion was made by Commissioner Mahaffey, seconded by Commissioner Funk, and passed unanimously to approve the September 8, 2009 Special City Commission meeting minutes and paying the bills.
