Tom explained, is walking through the Faire as a character from the past. He quickly discovered he had much in common with Francis I, the King of France. Both men were deeply devoted to their mothers. Both were patrons of the arts, lovers of architecture, fine clothes, jewelry and women.
No sooner had he “found” Francis I, when others, who would ultimately become the French Court, found Tom. This would, of course, include Chris, a.k.a. Prince Henri, an arrestingly
handsome young man who, at the age of 12, designs his own costumes. Unlike most boys his age, he has studied and understands the history of medieval weaponry and garb.
Renee Spahr, a former belly dancer and artist with the Faire, immediately befriended Tom and Chris, easily recruiting others to join them. Tom’s cousin, Reginald Hamlin, took on the persona of Duke of Bourbon, while Toni Bailey became Anne de Pisseleu d’Heilly, mistress to Francis I. As a whole, the group has swelled to nearly
