Reading As A Hobby
Though Reading seems to be going out of fashion, it is a paradox that how many new books and magazines are coming up. There is a lot of blogging and ezines on the net, but nothing beats reading curled up on a sofa with a cup of tea and munchies.
If you are connected to the net, you can browse around, and even subscribe to a host of reading material. There are many groups for all kinds of activities and you can join them free. You can take part in- group discussions, or post your comments to sites. However, it can be tiring for the eyes and back.
Reading and related literary activities keep loneliness and boredom at bay. They keep your brain alert. Even if you are homebound health wise, this will not put extra physical strain on you. You do not have to spend a lot of money to keep yourself occupied.
You can also get more qualified by taking courses on the net. You
are not too old to get degrees. I know one 85 Ph.D. in English.

There are many avenues to pursue more knowledge, many free lessons on all sorts of subjects. Indeed the Internet is a virtual treasure trove of information.
If you have writing ability and or ambition, only thing extra needed is your pen and a notebook. Or if you have a computer, a word processor. It can even generate some income if you become adept. I have listed some such activities, what they are, and where to get help.
