GENERAL.

Inspection Initiation.  This inspection will be conducted as a result of a work program requirement, a previous surveillance effort, allegations of improper maintenance, or component failure trends.  This inspection is a comprehensive in-depth inspection that encompasses all of the repair station areas of responsibilities.  While conducting the inspection, the principal inspector (PI) should verify that the facility and personnel are qualified to perform the maintenance functions as listed in the operations specifications (OpSpecs) and capability list.

B.

Work Away from a Fixed Location.  The district office where the work is being performed may conduct inspections of repair stations doing work away from a fixed location.  The PI from the geographical office performing the inspection should maintain good communications with the parent facility’s certificate-holding district office (CHDO) in matters regarding procedures, manuals, equipment, personnel, etc.
