SHEEPYARD FLAT Howqua Track Via Merrijig. 30-40 minute drive from Mansfield. 3km past Merrijig, turn onto the Howqua Track for a winding decent into Sheepyard Flat. You will find a great camping area with fireplaces, toilets & picnic tables and good fishing on the Howqua River. On the right hand side of the road find the marked scenic track from Sheepyard Flat to Fry’s Hut (40 mins return), gaining insights into the gold mining history of this area. Further along the road from Sheepyard Flat is Tunnel Bend, a 100m long tunnel dug through rock by chinese miners in the gold mining days.
MIRIMBAH PARK Mt.Buller Road, Mirimbah. Situated 25 minutes from Mansfield at the foot of Mt.Buller beside the Delatite River. Try your luck at fishing, take a dip in the river or take off on a bush walk from here. The park has playground equipment, toilets and BBQs.
