For UnitedHealthcare, Health Net of Connecticut, Inc., Health Net of New York, Inc., Health Net Insurance Company of NY, Inc., and Health Net of New Jersey, Inc., Providers

1. What was announced?

UnitedHealthcare has completed the acquisition of Health Net’s Northeast licensed subsidiaries and obtained rights to renew Health Net’s membership in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey. After close, UnitedHealthcare staff will assume responsibility for all contract renewals between the acquired subsidiaries of Health Net of the Northeast Inc. and its participating providers.

Health Net will continue to provide administrative services to commercial, Medicare and Medicaid members, including provider services, until members transition to UnitedHealthcare or another carrier.

2. Is UnitedHealthcare acquiring all of Health Net’s operations?

No. UnitedHealthcare is only acquiring Health Net’s Northeast licensed subsidiaries and obtaining rights to renew Health Net’s membership in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey.

3. I currently participate with both UnitedHealthcare and its affiliates, as well as Health Net networks in the Northeast. How will this impact my current contracts with each?

Your current contracts remain in effect. Health Net participating providers do not have to sign a new contract with UnitedHealthcare to continue to provide services to existing Health Net members. After close, UnitedHealthcare staff will assume responsibility for all contract renewals between the acquired subsidiaries of Health Net of the Northeast Inc. and its participating providers.

The Health Net provider agreements will be accessed only by Health Net members enrolled with a Health Net benefit plan in the Northeast.

Health Net continues to provide all administrative services functions, other than contract renewals, to its members and providers, including claims payment, provider relations, provider services, prior authorizations, concurrent reviews, recredentialing, appeals and grievances, and member services, until such time as Health Net Northeast members have all renewed with a UnitedHealthcare plan or another carrier.
