Option One - Software Only

  • ๎š

e one “software-only” solution to getting good sound from jOrgan is FluidSynth. ๎šat is why I chose the

jOrgan disposition built on FluidSynth in Chapter 4. I wanted the easiest, most straightforward disposition for the beginner to start o๎˜ with. With the exception of your soundfont, which we will discuss below, you have everything you need in FluidSynth to make your jOrgan play music through your own PC computer’s speakers.

Maximal olume—to increase volume:

  • 1)

turn the volume knob on your the computer’s speakers, or

  • 2)

click on your computer’s volume icon and adjust the icon’s volume slider.

If you connected an expression pedal control, as in Chapter 6, you can 3) use your expression pedal to control volume. Finally, there is 4) a gain control in your disposition’s FluidSynth window. To change FluidSynth’s gain setting, select the menu item View/Fluidsynth. You will see a FluidSynth Tab in the lower panel of your jOrgan window, Fig. 7.1.
