BEST OF CAMP INSTRUCTIONS
Each outpost is invited and encouraged to participate in the “Best of Camp” competition.
At registration, turn in the Best of Camp sign-up form indicating the level of competition that your outpost is competing in.
All outposts must meet the requirements for Safety in Camping. Safety in Camping requirements are noted in bold type in sections one through seven. If the outpost is not competing in the Quality in Camping or the Excellence in Camping category check Safety in Camping on the Best of Camp sign-up form. To qualify for the Safety in Camping award the outpost must get an overall score of 40 points or more.
If the outpost is competing in the Quality in Camping category check the appropriate line on the Best of Camp registration form. To qualify for the Quality in Camping ribbon the outpost must get an overall score of 95 points or more.
If the outpost is competing in the Excellence in Camping category check the appropriate line on the Best of Camp registration form and have each commander in attendance sign the appropriate line. To qualify for Excellence in Camping the outpost must get an overall score of 150 points or more.
Projects needed in camp may be made back at the outpost and brought to the camp, but all lashing and assembly should be done in camp. The type wood used on these camp projects must be found in general outdoor camp surroundings. Ply-wood may be used for camp site entrance signs, patrol tables etc. Pleather (Imitation Leather) may be used for Outpost banners and patrol standards etc.
The Pow Wow Senior Guide will direct outposts to their campsites beginning at 12 Noon on Thurs. After they have filed the appropriate paper work.
Outposts are not permitted to set-up a campsite before 12 noon on Thurs.
Advanced scouting of campsite locations or early setting up is prohibited for the competition.
PARTS TO THE CAMP MAY BE MADE AT HOME AND BROUGHT TO POW WOW, BUT ALL LASHING AND ASSEMBLY MUST BE DONE IN CAMP BY THE BOYS. . All Commanders and men in your camp site must sign there name to the “Best of Camp Sign-up form” if you are competing for the Best of Camp trophy.
