SESSION TRACKS AND LEVELS OF EXPERTISE The Annual School is designed to meet the training needs of human services practitioners. To assist you in deciding which sessions and levels of expertise will meet your needs, each session has been categorized in one of the following tracks and level of expertise. Each session’s category and levels of expertise are shown at the end of the session description.

TRACKS Keynote Presentations These are general sessions geared for all conference attendees.

Certification Courses These are core courses required for professional certification or licensure.

Clinical Workshops These workshops provide basic and in-depth skills building for the practicing counselor and/or clinician.

Research Workshops Attend these workshops to learn about new developments in the field of addictions, and application of research findings to the treatment field.

Management Workshops Designed to enhance the skills and knowledge base of clinical, administrative, financial and/or quality assurance managers.

Other Workshops These workshops deal with other topics (e.g., corrections or social issues).

LEVELS Beginning (Foundational knowledge and skills of addictions and addictions treatment aimed at the new or entry level counselor.)

Intermediate (Workshops targeted at increasing the knowledge and skills of participants who have experience in the field and an established foundational knowledge. Basic concepts would only be reviewed in order to be able to focus on more complex concepts and skills.)

Advanced (Workshops targeted at those individuals with 5 or more years in the field.)
