BY G.R.A.P.E. PRESIDENT MATT TONSICH

Happy Valentine’s Day to all you romantic G.R.A.P.E. members out there. We have a lot of exciting events going on so let’s get right to business.

The Program Committee reviewed the evaluation sheets from our December Speed Networking Breakfast Meeting and there was an overwhelming amount of support to try it again. At our February 17th Breakfast Meeting, we will have speed networking from 8:15 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Please come prepared with a business card and a smile to this meeting. And yes, the bell will ring when three minutes are up!

We have a very special speaker for our February Breakfast Meeting, the one and only Jeanne Jones, former Executive Director of G.R.A.P.E. Jeanne’s topic is “When Populations Change…Implications for the Aging.” Come and hear Jeanne speak and say hello.

If you still have not filled up on networking, the Marketing Committee will be sponsoring a social networking event on March 11th at MacGregor's on Empire Blvd. from 5:30pm– 7:30pm. Advance tickets are $15.00 and will be sold at the February Breakfast and Lunch meetings. Tickets at the door will be $18.00. Come and get to know your fellow G.R.A.P.E. members. No presentations, no speakers, and yes there will be appetizers, door prizes, and cash bar. I hope to see you all there.

On another note, we are solidifying our sponsorship for the G.R.A.P.E. Breakfast and Lunch Meetings for this year. There are still a few opportunities available to host or sponsor an event. Please let the G.R.A.P.E Office or the Program Committee know if you are interested. We will also have a sign-up sheet available at the meetings.

Last but not least, one of G.R.A.P.E.’s largest events of the year is the Legislative Town Hall Meeting on February 5th hosted by Nazareth College, Gerontology Program. It will be sponsored by First Niagara. Paul Ryan and Myron Kowal from the Advocacy Committee set up local legislative appointments and met with many of our representatives. They were able to prepare the legislators on the subject of senior services in our community. Thanks, for doing a great job representing G.R.A.P.E. There is still time to register for this event. Contact the G.R.A.P.E. Office (256-4351) for details.
