STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DRIVE TO THE CONVENTION. Student drivers will be turned away and reported to the Junior Statesmen Foundation. Any student who drives a car to the convention will be sent home immediately.
PARKING: Overnight parking is available for teachers who drive to the hotel parking lot at a reduced rate of $10.00 per day (self-park only).
Please arrange to be picked up at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 17th.
Arrival at the Convention
Registration will take place between 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Friday, April 15th, 2011. Teacher/Advisors (TA’s) and delegation leaders should arrive by 6:00 pm. TA’s must be present to register a delegation. The delegation leader and TA should report to the ballroom foyer to check-in your delegation. The rest of your delegation should wait in the lobby or general ballroom. Here you will receive agenda packets, name tags, and other convention information and take care of last minute registration details.
Students should arrive in business attire, and are expected to dress professionally during all daytime activities on Saturday and Sunday. A good yardstick is to ask your parent or guardian if your attire would be appropriate to meet your Congressman.
Men should wear a suit and tie or slacks, a dress shirt and tie or sweater. Women should wear a business outfit, a dress, or nice slacks and a blouse.
In the evening, when students break for dinner, they may change into their casual clothes for the remainder of the evening.
Luggage Storage and Key Distribution
Keys should be ready for distribution at check-in on Friday, April 15th. If you arrive late, or your rooms are not ready, student leaders will direct your delegates to take their luggage to the assigned luggage storage room. Please store your luggage under the sign with your school name.
