COMMUNITY RULES TO BE ENFORCED BY ALL TEACHER/ADVISORS
All Teacher/Advisors will be asked to enforce the following rules with all delegates, regardless of what school they attend. These rules will ensure a happy convention for the students, the teachers, the hotel staff and guests, to ensure that we may continue to have JSA conventions in the future!
Delegates must attend all convention activities. No exceptions. Schools with poor attendance will not be allowed to attend future conventions. Mid-block debate hopping is also not allowed.
Students must wear their nametags at all times. If a student not wearing one, at any time, he or she will be asked to go retrieve it immediately. *Lost nametags can only be replaced with a picture student ID or a TA approval.
Delegates must dress appropriately: Daytime = professional. Nightime = “free” dress, within reason, i.e. no bare chests or bikini tops. Please ask students to change.
All students must attend the mandatory chapter caucus after dinner on Saturday night. Delegates are not allowed to leave the hotel after the chapter caucus.
No boys in girls rooms, no girls in boys rooms. Students will be sent home if caught.
Possession or use of alcohol or illegal drugs is strictly prohibited. If students are found in a room with alcohol and/or illegal drugs present, ALL parents will be called to remove their children from the premises immediately, unless non-awareness of the substance is adequately proven. Smoking is also not permitted.
Delegates must respect the rights of other hotel guests and the hotel property and remain quiet on hotel floors at all times. Delegates should not do anything to damage the reputation of the Junior Statesmen program or their high school.
Curfew is at 12:15 a.m. At curfew, if you see any delegate in the hall without the proper “Cabinet” designation, please get their name and school and contact Tracy immediately. Delegates will remain in their rooms until they checkout in the morning.
All students must be completely checked out of their rooms and off of their floors by 9:00 a.m. All luggage should be brought to the luggage storage area and keys turned into TA’s.
Serious violations of convention rules will result in expulsion from the convention, notification of parents and your school and/or other appropriate measures.
