Rescued a floundering JSP based, Oracle data query application for Northwest Administrators Inc., a benefits administration company.  Within three weeks, entirely refactored the system that had been in development for over 18 months.  Fixed all outstanding issues, added unit tests, implemented connection pooling, created Ant build processes, added error handling and Log4j logging, commented the code and wrote a maintenance guide.

Java Developer responsible for new customer on-boarding at Qpass (now Amdocs Interactive) for a wireless phone purchasing system.  Converted a WAP based application to support Arabic.  Updated code to support localization and internationalization for multiple languages.  Provided training to Tier 3 support personnel.

Business analyst and Java developer for a troubled billing collections letter project at Cingular Wireless (now AT&T Mobility).  Overcame a highly charged, political work environment to ensure the project’s success.

Java developer on various projects including a Palm based ordering/scanning system using kAWT/KJava with IBM J9/Visual Age ME, a grocery delivery system for Palm Symbol devices, and a bookseller route management and inventory tracking system for Pocket PC handhelds.  Server-side systems used WebLogic on UNIX with Oracle.  External messaging systems used MQ Series AMI and JMS.  Reporting leveraged XML interfaces transformed via XSLT.  Development followed a continuous integration build model using CruiseControl.

Job responsibilities also included full life cycle application development, systems and administrative support, database support, and technical support.  Was the main technical contact and interface with support personnel and business analysts in Canadian and UK offices.  Role also included managing and tracking development project tasks, producing technical documentation, and frequently interfacing with upper management.

Independent Java Contractor

Developed Java interfaces to the EPP (Extensible Provisioning Protocol) Registry/Registrar Toolkit API (a SourceForge project) for handling .INFO domain name registration.  Work required passing Afilias registrar acceptance certification on eNom's behalf and for at least one of their resellers.
