OPERATING THE RIGAKU® DMAX/Rapid MICRO-DIFFRACTOMETER
If you are about to initiate a run on the Rigaku Micro-X-ray Diffractometer, you have already discussed with George Harlow, the nature of the sample to be tested, the probable mounting configuration and run parameters, to render the best result for your research needs.
COMPUTER BOOT-UP AND SYSTEM LOG ON
The computer that supports the Rigaku is generally left ON, with the monitor ON but dark (if left for more than 20 minutes). Check to see if this is the case, if not, turn both computer and monitor ON.
If the computer is ON, there is no need for re-booting the system and all necessary software should be up and running from the previous user. This can be checked on the menu bar at the bottom of the computer monitor.
If the computer needs to be turned ON, do so. During the boot-up of the computer, the word Administrator should appear the USER ID line. The password for this is rigakuam. You should now be ready to use the Rigaku System.
SOFTWARE PROGRAMS FOR RIGAKU OPERATIONS
The three primary software packages needed for use with the Rigaku System are: RINT RAPID XRD, AREA MAX and JADE 7. Opened, these software packages can be identified on the menu bar at the bottom of the screen as RINT RAPID, AREA MAX and JADE 7. Each of these software packages will also open their own internal support windows. Do not be alarmed at these extra icons at the bottom of the screen menu bar.
