MANAGERS NOTES Hello all!
We made it through another winter and spring is here! I encourage everyone to take a much needed break from spring cleaning and yard work by stopping by the post for cool drink and good conversation!
Every week our poker game has continued to grow. The bigger the crowd gets, the more dealers we need. We still need more volunteers. If you are interested please get with me at the post.
The ALR will be hosting this month’s fish fry. They always bring in a fun crowd, so be sure to join us.
Saturday April 19th the Right On Red band will be playing. Every other Saturday we will have karaoke with Rick.
Hope to see you soon!
Lindsy Shiveley, Club Manager
We still have a couple of free memberships left if you know someone that would like to join the American Legion.
I would like to thank everyone that helped with our membership drive. We are still actively pursuing new members, so please ask your friends, neighbors and family if they are eligible and would like to join.
I have decided to run again for 1st Vice Commander, so I would appreciate your support. This last year has been a learning experience for me. Hopefully, I can use this experience, suggestions from the membership and any successful membership activity from the past to obtain more members for this coming year.
Don’t forget our poker night every Friday night. Please tell everyone about it. It’s open to the public and lots of fun.
Philip E. Lee, 1st Vice Commander
We have had a very productive month. Thanks for all the participation and help! Come in Thursdays for dollar beer and free pool. We have three very nice pool tables off of our bar area, along with three nice big screen televisions.
We will be having a car wash at the post sponsored by the SAL. Look for details coming soon. We have several activities planned for spring and summer. Come join the fun.
A few of us will be putting in new ceiling tiles in the bar area. If you would like to donate please see me.
Steve Merrick, SAL Commander and all the SAL Officers
The date has been set for the 2008 Annual Poker Ride, please mark your calendars for Saturday June 21st, 2008. The date for the ALR Luau will be held later this summer. We are pleased to announce the “Snacks for Iraq” cookie drive has now totaled over 300 boxes. The soldiers should be receiving them shortly.
All ALR riders that will be in town Memorial Day, please let me know as soon as possible, as the riders will be assisting the Color Guard in the Flag Presentation at the Fishers Town Hall. Also, don’t forget the Fishers Freedom Festival Parade. If you know of any soldiers that will be home on leave, please let me know.
Many people have asked what is the ALR and what do we do??: The American Legion Riders are members of the American Legion who are also motorcycle enthusiasts. They can be found participating in parades, partaking in motorcycle events, and always supporting the communities in which they live and work. Members of the ALR come from the Legion, Auxiliary, and the Sons of the American Legion. The American Legion Riders are family-oriented, just as its parent organization the American Legion. For those that have missed the last couple of meetings due to the weather, we are now a division of the National American Legion Riders.
