Basketball

Netball

Our Under 14 and Under 15 Boys both reached the County cup final losing out to strong opposition in both games.

The Under 14 and Under 19 teams qualified through their respective county cup competitions to play in the West Midlands National Qualifiers.

Sporting Highlights 2009-2010

Head of PE, Mr Iain Sweeney writes:

We can look back on another highly successful sporting year with more than 180 students representing their District, County, Region or Country in a wide variety of sports. 42 boys and girls played Football for their County, District or professional clubs. At the very highest level students represented England, Wales or Great Britain in Hockey, Ice Hockey, Swimming, Basketball, Wheelchair Basketball, Mixed Martial Arts and Athletics.

Swimming Development Squad for the 2012 Olympics

Ice Hockey

Luke Brittle was selected for the Great Britain Ice Hockey Squad.

Alexandra Hooper has continued to represent England in 100m Backstroke and is in the Development Squad for the 2012 Olympics. She has taken up a scholarship at the University of Texas.

Three students were selected to represent Shropshire at the English Schools’ Championships in Birmingham.

Laura Pacey competed in the 400m Hurdles. Alex Nwenwu competed in the 110m Hurdles and lay in second place in the final until a twisted ankle caused him to come home in 7th place. Aidan Reynolds won Silver in the Javelin and went on to represent England in the Home International.

As well as his tremendous achievements on the Athletics field (see left), Aidan Reynolds was also selected to play basketball for the Wales National Under 16 Team at the 2010 European Championships.

ATHLETICS AND BASKETBALL STAR AIDAN REYNOLDS

Frances Ray represented the Great Britain Senior Women’s Wheelchair Basketball team in June 2010 at the BT Paralympic World Cup in Manchester and then at the World Wheelchair Basketball Championships held in Birmingham in July.
